9 Moves To Shrink Your Muffin Top

According to Skinny Mom, “Diet is a huge factor. It’s time to put down those sugary drinks, (even the diet kind) and replace them with water.  Trade in your chips and candy for veggies and fruit. Hit the cardio for 30 minutes a day three times a week and give these nine killer abdominal workouts a try. …”

Before you start your abdominal workout, be sure to start with a 10-15 minute warmup to prevent injury and  get half of those 30 minutes of cardio in. Whether you go on the treadmill at the gym or take a walk around your neighborhood, get your muscles pumped up!

One of our favorite Skinny Mom abdominal moves is the Stability Ball V-Pass.

Lie face up on the floor with arms and feet extended, grasping a stability ball with both hands. In one fluid movement, use your entire core to lift your arms and legs off the ground, keeping legs and arms straight the entire time. Transfer the ball from your hands to your feet and allow yourself to lower back down to the floor. Repeat for listed sets/reps below.

  • Beginner – 3 sets of 12 (bend your knees if necessary)
  • Advanced – 3 sets of 15
  • Why? This move works your entire core and is a great mix up from the traditional ab exercises.

One of our favorite moves is the “Mermaid with Ball”.

Sit with the ball at your left side, and bend your left leg in front of you, your right leg behind you. Place your left hand on the ball, elbow slightly bent, and extend your right arm out to your side at shoulder level. Brace your core and roll the ball out to the left as far as you can while reaching your right arm over your head. Hold for two or three seconds, then roll the ball back toward your body and return to the starting position. That’s one rep. Finish all reps, then switch sides and repeat.

In this October Issue of FitnessRx, Vladka demonstrates Stability Ball Crunches with Resistance Band. The stability ball crunch is one of the most effective exercises for abdominal engagement, and is great alternative to floor crunches.

FLAT-ABS-SHAPELY-LEGS-PART-2-INS

How To Do It

1. Loop a band through something stable.

2. Position the middle of your back on a stability ball. The top of your head should be positioned a few feet from where the band is looped so that there is sufficient tension.

3. Grab an end of the band with each hand as shown.

4. Raise your body up into a full sit-up position.

5. Squeeze your abs hard at the top, and slowly lower your body back to the ground.

(Perform 4 sets of 15 reps)

Bust Your Belly Fat with the Belly Buster Workout!

The stomach is a problem area for many women. Yet, it doesn’t have to be! When you workout your stomach on a regular basis, you will be that much closer to your fitness goals and getting that flat stomach that you have always wanted.

The Belly Buster Workout 

Sit on ball and lean back with hands on floor behind you, palms down and turned out, legs extended. Bring right knee toward chest (as shown); return to start. Repeat with left knee for 1 rep. In total, do 12 reps and repeat daily.
